First Snow!

It was the night of August 31st and I had been checking the weather for the past few days, itching to get up into the mountains to be in the snow. Waking up early and ready to go after checking out Alta's webcams to see snow on the ground! I was so excited and tried to get everyone around me motivated, but to no avail. Then Giray called me around noon just as excited as I was so he came down to pick me up, as we were off to Guardsman's pass!
Guardsman's Pass is a summer road that connects Big Cottonwood Canyon to the town of Park City, UT. It is the road that goes the highest up in the area so going up late in the day, we figured it was our best shot.
We had two full cars driving up as we watched the snowline begin to creep closer to us, and the temperature outside kept dropping. We drove through the clouds, as the snow had stopped up there, then we reached the top of the pass. There was a little bit of snow around us, not enough to ski, which we were hoping to do. However, there was plenty of snow to go play around in, so we headed up the ridge to the top of this peak towards more snow, and a better view.
It was beautiful, and about 30 degrees at the summit. There was about two inches of snow, so we proceeded to throw snowballs, and make snowmen. Everyone was so excited to get out of the hot summer attitude, and get a glimpse of what was to come.
Though it is now hot in the city again, and all the snow has melted, it was great to get up to the mountains and enjoy the first snowfall. There is still plenty of fun to still have in the summer, and I am enjoying it. Winter will have it's time to come, and when it is that time, I will be joyful; as that is the true reason i moved here in the first place.
